my other flowering plants

Been very busy these past few weeks, I wasn't able to update my blog.

Aside from orchids, I have other flowering plants in my little garden like euphorbias and cosmos. At first, I don't really like to plant euphorbias because they are thorny but my sister gave me few pots and she said I might as well try growing them. And here they are now, giving me lovely flowers....

lovely vandas

A friend sent me this picture of lovely vandas from one of the farms in Thailand.
I heard they have really big and nice orchid farms there. And they continuously develop new varieties in their laboratory. Parang gusto ko tuloy makarating ng Thailand. Parang masarap mamasyal sa kanilang orchid farms. Siguro ay hindi ko mapipigilang bumili dun.

vanda kamolphan red pink

One of the few vanda I bought who have tag or name of the variety. This is the first time it produced flowers. Lovely flowers in deep fuschia....I have no idea on the apperance of this one when I bought it 'coz I didn't see one with flowers by this variety on the stall, so I'm really happy when I saw it finally bloom. (Maganda pala siya, sulit ang paghihintay ko...Kaya lang, di macapture ang kulay sa camera, maputla ang flowers sa picture pero sa totoo, matingkad ang kulay nito)

This white and pink dendrobiums produce very long and double spikes with flowers about 12 to 16 pieces each stem. One of the few variety who produce flowers easily.

Good effects

Though the rain cause my orchids to have fungi and pests sometimes(pests love to stay on wet orchid leaves), it also has many good effects. The roots became fresh and plenty of new roots are sprouting, and many of them are flowering these days without the need of blooming fertilizer.

dendrobium

One of the orchid variety that's easy to take care of(as far as i'm concerned) is the dendrobium. You can hang it in pots(with coconut husks or charcoal) or simply attach it on a tree trunk, preferably trees with rough bark like caimito.

at last...

I've been waiting for some of my orchid plants to produce flowers for so long(I think more than a year already) so I'm very happy when I saw three of them with spikes. I almost forgot I have this variety with me(light yellow and maroon) until the buds finally opened.
